Lessons Overview

Capen Music Academy offers piano lessons in Kuala Lumpur using world-class syllabus by international publishers like Alfred Publishing, Hal Leonard and Kjos. Students can expect customised lessons according to the student’s progress, strengths and weakness so that students get to learn through challenging yet engaging lessons.

What you learn

As a beginner, you will learn the fundamentals of music and piano-playing such as learning to read music, identifying the names of keys and progressing from playing with one hand to two hands. As you progress, you will learn to a wide variety of techniques and repertoire from classical pianists like Bach and Mozart, to modern pianists like Alicia Keys and Richard Clayderman.

Piano lessons at Capen Music Academy are built to provide a comprehensive music education which includes theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and history.

How we teach

You will be learning the piano in a one-to-one setting so that you get personalised lesson plans and concentrated attention. You can choose a 30-minute or 60-minute weekly session depending on how fast you want to progress in your piano lessons.

Qualifications

Though not compulsory, we highly recommend students to obtain a qualification as a benchmark of your progress. Our piano lessons are structured to prepare students for international examination boards like ABRSM and Trinity up to Grade 8.

Who can join?

Our piano lessons are open to students of all ages and all levels. As long as you have the desire to be a great pianist, you are eligible to join our classes.

However, if you are enrolling on behalf of your child, we do require kids to have a basic knowledge of numbers and the ability to read. We recommend kids be at least 5 years old before starting piano lessons.
